Software to "map" keystrokes to IR code?

Hello,

I have successfully used an IRTrans USB module and iRed2 (for Mac) for awhile now to control my Mac OS X 6 laptop with a universal IR remote by "sending" keystrokes to my computer.
For example, if I hit the "Channel Up" button on the remote, it would be like hitting the "Up Arrow" on the keyboard.

I've been asked to accomplish the same thing on a Windows 7 laptop.
However, I've become extremely confused on how to accomplish this.
My IRTrans USB module apparently is compatible with Windows 7.

So, I need some advice on what drivers/firmware/software I need to install to do this?
Basically, I need the iRed2 equivalent for Windows 7... a Google search returns a hodpodge of results that added to my confusion.
I would prefer something with a GUI, however, if I need to use some sort of script to map IR codes to keystrokes, that's ok.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Hi,
there is a small freeware tool available called "ir2keyboard". It should do what you are looking for.
