Cannot get Power On by remote to work

Hi,

I recently bought an Origen AE S10V case with IR Trans VFD, but I cannot get it to power on by remote. The remote works excellent when using XBMC, but if the PC is turned off the only thing that happens when I press the power button is the flickering of the little red icon (which incidentally also flickers when I turn on the light).
I'm 99,9% sure I wired it correctly, it's pretty foolproof after all.

I've tried to define the power button using the irclient program, but whenever I try to save my changes the irserver quits with 'segmentation fault'. For example, if I start irclient, press 3 then 0, then enter 52 and enter the remote name, then enter 99 to save&exit, the irserver quits. I've also tried to change some other settings, like a bit in the repeat mask, but as soon as I save&exit the irserver stops. If I do not make any changes and choose save&exit, irserver doesn't quit.

The software was downloaded from http://www.irtrans.de/en/download/linux.php (server version 6.02.30) and is running on a Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 minimal installation. LCDproc v0.4.3 is also installed, but the problem occurs whether this is running or not.

P.S. Is it possible to increase the brightness of the display ?

I am not sure if setting the PowerOn command is fully supported using LINUX.

You might do this setting with windows, it is stored permanently.

Well, after a lot of re-wiring I managed to connect the device to my desktop PC running Vista 64bit. But it's the same there, as soon as I hit the Set mode button IRServer stops working:
