ired touch, irtrans, now what?

Postby greglujan » Sun 7. Dec 2008, 17:55

My iphone ired touch app is saying it's connected with "no irtrans no ired"
I have the app, I've connected and installed the irtrans, I'm on my local area network (airport), although the app is saying no "LAN modules found"
what am I doing wrong?

Hi,
that looks like the IP Address is not set correctly.

Please use the ip_assing application to check if and how an IP Address is set.

did you mean ip-assign?
I couldnt find such an application on my mac, is that a iphone app?

please understand I'm really not that computer literate, especially with the mac, so I need a bit more explanation.

I have my ip address here, what do I do with it?

Hi Greg,

indeed there is no ip-assign on the Mac.

Did you get any connection to the IRTrans from your Mac? If you have a DHCP server running in your network, the module will get its IP adress from there. You should be able to connect to the module from a webbrowser like Safari. However, to make this work you must have an idea on which adress the module get assigned. If there is no DHCP server, the module will fallback to the adress 192.168.0.32. As soon as you can connect to the modules webserver, you wil be able to set its IP adress (see PDF manual which came with the module).

Anyway, iRedTouch does not need to setup an IP adress, it should connect automagically. Though, the iPhone needs to be on the same subnet as the module, i.e. the adresses should only differ in the last section, e.g. 192.35.149.xxx.

Have you tried iRed2 to connect to the IRTrans?

Best Regards,

Robert

Ok, robert,

holding on by a thin thread here, kind of understand what you're talking about.

I know that my IP addresses are different on my mac and my iphone, even though I'm hooked into the same wireless network (using my mac airport to connect my iphone)
I have a DHCP server (as opposed to a ppoe or whatever...) they're not on the same ip address or subnet address, or even close like you described.

when I plug in the irtrans, it doesn't do anything, I mean I get the driver icon, I click on it, an installation sequence starts and then it tells me "cannot continue there's nothing to install" once I pick the destination

how do I get the module's webserver again? I have an address,

I've not tried ired2, should I?
is it any simpler?

I should probably mention, although I don't know how much it matters, the mac I use is part of my wife's office network; that shouldn't matter though, should it? The firewall has a LAN IP and a WAN IP, do those matter? and what do I do with them?

Greg,

sorry for not following this thread for the last weeks. I thought that I had configured the forum to send me a follow-up mail ...
Were you successful in the meantime?
